Press conference NFI on the Dutch Gift Basket

The Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) has developed the Dutch-led NSS2014 Gift Basket to support international development of forensic response and investigation in case of a nuclear security incident.

Tjark Tjin-A-Tsoi, CEO of the NFI, will introduce the Dutch Gift Basket Monday 18.00h at a press conference at the Media Hospitality Center of the Nuclear Security Summit.

Expert Ed van Zalen stresses the importance of international cooperation to combat nuclear terrorism effectively. Van Zalen introduces the program ´Forensics in Nuclear Security´, which is designed to bring nuclear science and forensic science together by promoting the sharing of knowledge.

Gift Basket

The Gift Basket consists therefore of an international knowledge platform for experts to exchange knowledge, a nuclear forensics lexicon, a good practices compendium for nuclear forensics investigations and an education, training and exercise curriculum. These deliverables were acknowledged by 24 NSS states in the period preceding the NSS 2014. Furthermore the NFI developed the “Innovation Pathway 2014-2019, Forensics in Nuclear Security”.
