Professor Marjan Sjerps

Marjan Sjerps was appointed to the chair of Forensic Statistics at the University of Amsterdam in 2010. Her field of interest is the use of probabilistic and statistical models for assessing the evidential value of forensic findings, and how this value can best be reported to the police or the courts.

In addition, she is concerned with the problem of evaluating the evidential value of multiple pieces of evidence in combination. Professor Sjerps, who joined the NFI in 1993, gained her PhD from Leiden University in 1994.
