Collaboration NFI and Korean police and Public Prosecution Service

The Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) is going to start collaborating with the Korean police and the Korean Public Prosecution Service. The NFI entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with both parties this week.

Digital forensics and cyber security

The focus of the collaboration is going to be on the field of digital forensics and cyber security. Both Korea and the Netherlands have high quality forensic institutes which will benefit greatly from knowledge sharing. The goal is to facilitate a more rapid joint development of new research techniques.

Innovation

The NFI has always regarded cooperation in the field of innovation as a priority. Exchanging knowledge with other parties, both inside the forensic domain and elsewhere, increases and optimises research possibilities. In this way, the NFI can provide clients with increasingly improved services and products.

Nuclear Security Summit

The MoUs are going to be signed at around the same time as the Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) which was being organised in Seoul on 26 and 27 March 2012. Immediately after the NSS, Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Rosenthal is heading an economic delegation to strengthen the bilateral ties between the Netherlands and South Korea. The NFI participates in various elements of the programme, such as a serious gaming seminar on 28 March 2012.
