Rutte praises NFI's world-class reputation

In the run-up to the Nuclear Security Summit, Prime Minster Rutte paid a visit to the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI). Experts informed Rutte about, among other things, the possible use of forensic investigation techniques in a nuclear or radiological incident.

The nuclear summit will be held in The Hague on 24 and 25 March. The summit's theme is the prevention of nuclear terrorism. More than 50 world leaders hope to make agreements about this issue. Rutte will chair the summit.

World-class reputation

"The NFI has a world-class reputation in the field of forensic nuclear investigation", the Prime Minister said. Rutte said that he had spoken to the best experts in the profession during the working visit. "From an investigation of a completely burnt-out mobile phone to how dirty bombs are made and who are responsible for such weapons; their expertise in these matters is something that makes you very proud."
