Collaboration between NFI and Center for Cyber and Information Security

The Netherlands Forensic Institute is going to collaborate with the Norwegian Center for Cyber and Information Security (CCIS). On 29 September 2015, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to ratify this initiative.

The CCIS will be using the NFI forensic digital platform for large-scale digital investigations for this purpose. In this context, the NFI and the CCIS will carry out research and work on innovative projects in the area of cyber forensics and big data.

Kees Möhring, Director of External Relations for the NFI: “I welcome the merger of knowledge and expertise between CCIS and NFI. Through this combination of strengths the fight against cybercrime will get a major boost and I am convinced that this cooperation will be fruitful, says Director of External Relations at NFI, Kees Möhring.”

Cyber forensics

The CCIS is part of the Norwegian Gjøvik University College (GUC). Various partners in the Center, including the Norwegian national police, work together in the cyber and information security fields. The CCIS provides high-quality research and training courses to parties involved in national cyber security.

So far, the collaboration with the CCIS has resulted in a special issue on big data and intelligent data analysis for the Digital Investigation journal, a Norwegian grant and the exchange of knowledge of cyber forensics.
