NFI is going to train Maltese investigators

Experts from the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) are going to train 14 crime scene investigators on Malta in June and July. This has been agreed between the NFI and the Maltese police.

The training programme will last five weeks and will be given by experts from the Mobile Forensics Team. At the request of the police, the MFT provides advice and support during the investigation of traces and the securing of evidence in homicides.

Tailor-made training

The training programme has been tailored to the needs of the Maltese police. The crime scene investigators will receive training in the field of forensic awareness, photography, crime scene investigation, bloodstain pattern analysis, and reporting. They will conclude their training with an examination.

Training in other countries

The NFI has given training courses to the police in other countries, as well. For example, in South Africa the police received training in connection with copper thefts, and in Turkey, the NFI provided training on subjects including bloodstain pattern analysis. In Surinam, they trained the police in the analysis of biological evidence at the scene of the crime.
