DNAxs workshop

The Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) organizes a three days in person  workshop on DNAxs at location NFI, the Hague, the Netherlands.

DNAxs is a software suite that aids in the data management, interpretation and reporting of DNA profiling data.

Get familiar with DNAxs

Join three days of presentations, discussions and get hands-on experience with the DNAxs software, including features, such as:

  • Workflows and modules in the software
    • Profile interpretation
    • Profile comparison
    • Weight of evidence calculations (DNAStatistX)
    • DNA Database searching
    • Creating conclusions and reporting
  • Use of different data types (autosomal, mtDNA and Y)
  • Connectivity of the platform to other forensic applications

Learning outcomes

Once you have successfully completed the workshop you:

  • Got familiar with the DNAxs workflow and modules
  • Can perform a statistical evaluation of DNA mixtures with DNAStatistX
  • Are able to use DNAxs on your own cases

Target group

Law enforcement forensic experts – experienced reporting officers who deal routinely with DNA profiling evidence and are required to interpret complex mixtures in casework.

Number of participants

Minimum 30 persons. Maximum 40 persons

Costs

€ 998,- per participant. This includes lunches and coffee/tea refreshments, and one course dinner on the 16th of January 2024.

N.B.: No VAT will be added.

Location

The workshop will take place at NFI, Laan van Ypenburg 6, 2497 GB The Hague, The Netherlands.

Materials

  • Free 60 days usage of the latest version of DNAxs (single license).
  • One week prior to the workshop the DNAxs team provides online support in case help is needed with installation of the DNAxs software (administrator permission is necessary).
  • Participants should bring their own laptop running Windows with the pre-installed DNAxs software.
  • Data for hands-on exercises will be supplied. There will also be time to run the software on your own data. Participants are therefore encouraged to bring their own laboratory’s specific data.
